Two Biomimicry Days, one school success.

We have been involved in the BioLearn project since February 2023 as one of the four pilot schools.

In June we organised our first Biomimicry Day with an exhibition of children's work on the theme of innovation inspired by nature, peer learning activities and a lecture by Assoc. Ing. Zuzana Tončíková, ArtD. from the Technical University of Zvolen.

Because of the great success, and enthusiasism of  both children and teachers, we decided to organize a second Biomimicry Day in the National Zoo in Bojnice in October. Our natural models were elephant, zebra and peacock. After learning a lot about their successful strategies, the children made suggestions for innovations that will help both people and nature.

I learned that we can protect nature if we use biomimicry.
Nature gives us different ideas on how we can make our lives more enjoyable.
— Quotes from pupils
Thanks to the inspiring environment of the zoo, together with intensity of childrens’ experience from the contact with animals and Zoo lecturer, their motivation and interest in creating biovations was high, and they managed innovations inspired by natural models of elephant, zebra and peacock with ease.
