Nature-inspired Learning
Spreading the ‘meme’ of nature-inspired Learning is the goal of the project. We are happy the European Union Erasmus + created the opportunity to put these words in action.
The duration of the project (BioLearn: Learning from Nature - Biomimicry in Education; 2018-1-HU01-KA201-047807) was from September 1st 2018 to October 31st, the project partners are from 6 countries, see at Contact.
We started the work by creating education materials. These materials are inspired by existing materials created in the USA (by the organisation Learning with Nature) and the Netherlands (by BiomimicryNL).
Next phase was to test the created modules and to work together in adjusting them. We then created events to involve teachers in the project. Also, teachers were trained in their countries and some of them were trained during an international study trip in the Netherlands (February 2020).
Results
The results of our hard work are a new set of educational modules for teachers and students around nature-inspired learning and teaching downloadable available in 5 languages. In total we have 22 modules (approx. 300 pages) in English (see EU flag and Universal manual) toolkit; and about 20 modules in other languages. For these modules see the page of your country.
At the end of each country page, you will also find background material for implementing teacher training based on the BioLearn modules.
All the European partners organised online and/or face to face teacher trainings and a national conference.
In 2023 we could extend the BioLearn website with a Turkish page with the help of a new project (BioLearn3 - Expanding Nature’s Genius; 2023-1-HU01-KA210-SCH-000162276). During this project the original BioLearn modules of secondary schools were translated to Turkish language. Kinetikhane (Turkish partner) added 2 new modules (Life, the Most Precious Present and Natural Design: Shapes and Patterns) that also extends English, Hungarian and Turkish sites.
